Necklace Jewelry Design for Make It Monday - 3/7/22

Today we are starting Make It Mondays! The first Monday of every month, I'll be posting a design I've made and discussing how it went - good or bad.

I really enjoy this month's piece! It's a simple necklace - I used one strand each of 8mm & 6mm onyx, plus 3 white agates. The strands are all connected in the back. I used a toggle clasp, and made sure to connect the two strands to the "loop" side of the toggle - this way I wasn't trying to tug 2 strands worth of beads through the loop with the "stick" end when closing it.

This design translates easily to other colors - just switch which stones you're using! This is actually the second "version" of this necklace - the last one was a challenge for me with champagne colored beads and green aventurine, as I'm not a huge fan of the wearing peachy tones. Next time I'll add some length and use an accent color instead of all neutrals! I liked the contrast between the peach and green - using neutrals makes this necklace seem more formal instead of playful.

Inspiration from this came from a bridal necklace I saw in a magazine - it was beautiful, but more fun to use gemstones than all white pearls ;)
